A teenager from Ballasalla has been given a 12-month conditional discharge for having £12 worth of cannabis.

Declan Corrin-McBurnie, of Clagh Vane, admitted possession of the drug and was also ordered to pay £125 costs.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police attended an address in Ballasalla after someone reported a smell of cannabis.

When they arrived, Corrin-McBurnie was upstairs at the property and 0.6 grams of cannabis was found.

When interviewed he handed in a prepared statement admitting the drug was his for personal use.

Advocate Paul Rodgers said his client had been smoking the drug inside the house and had worked since leaving school, now working in the catering industry.
