Police are investigating the theft of hay from a farm in Ballasalla.

The theft took place overnight on March 1 when an unknown number of people entered the grounds of a property on Phildraw Road and made off with £110 worth of hay.

Police said this was not a small item and would have taken some effort and a vehicle to move it.

The hay was stored underneath a tarpaulin and was not obviously on show.

This is the second reported agricultural theft this year, said police.

They urged farm owners to make sure their buildings, adjoining fields and storage areas are secure.

’If you notice anything suspicious please do not hesitate to contact us,’ a spokesman said.

If you have any information about the theft you are asked to contact Constable Craig Glover at Castletown police station on 822222 or 631212 or via email to [email protected]
