A teenager has been handed a two-year conditional discharge after banging a police cone against a man’s house window.

Bethany Storm Radcliffe, aged 19, of Brookhill Road, Ramsey, admitted provoking behaviour with a second charge of property damage withdrawn.

Prosecuting advocate James Robinson told the court that police were called to College Street in Ramsey on September 20 at 9pm.

The complainant in the case said that Radcliffe had been bashing a police cone against his windows and door.

After being arrested, during a police interview the teenager said she had been out drinking and claimed that the man had assaulted her.

She admitted going to his house later and striking the window with a police cone but denied causing any damage.

Defence advocate Michael Mudge said that this was his client’s first offence and she was losing her good character today.

Mr Mudge said that Radcliffe was young and had trouble managing her emotions at times.

He added that she had described herself as tipsy more than drunk.

’There was an allegation of assault while she was out and this has upset her and caused the red mist to descend,’ said the advocate.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said: ’Clearly alcohol played a part. I’m sure but for intoxication you wouldn’t have done what you did. It was likely to have been distressing for the complainant.’

Radcliffe was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs which she will pay at a rate of £5 per week, deducted from benefits.
