A trials biker had to be airlifted to hospital after coming off his bike in a remote location in the Michael hills.

Peel Coastguard volunteers were called out to help rescue the rider following the incident at just before 5.45pm on Monday evening off the Baltic Road.

The TT medical helicopter had landed nearby.

Coastguard volunteers descended 200m down a steep slope with a basket stretcher.

The casualty was then winched back up with the help of paramedics and the biker’s friends.

Once at the top he was transferred to the waiting helicopter and airlifted to Noble’s Hospital.

The coastguard team were back on station ready for the next call-out by 8.30pm.

They have issued a reminder to off-road bikers to stay on the tracks and take note of all signs.
