An Onchan man and two women from Liverpool have appeared in court accused of being involved with heroin being smuggled into the island.

John Slater, aged 31, of Ashley Park, is charged with possession of heroin with intent to supply and possessing criminal property, namely £900 in cash.

Jaine Elizabeth Beech, aged 39, of Hahnemann Road, Walton, and Tracy Solan, of Andrews Street, Walton, are jointly charged with production of heroin to the island and being concerned in the unlawful supply of the drug.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that 154 grams of heroin was discovered by police during a search of an address in Onchan on January 16 at 6.12am.

The case was adjourned at the request of advocates representing all three parties, to allow time to take further instructions.

Mr Slater made a bail application via his advocate Paul Rodgers but it was refused by High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.

Ms Beech and Ms Solan made no bail applications and all three were remanded in custody until February 4.
