Two women and a man have been convicted of offences following a late night brawl at a petrol station.

Video footage of the fight at the EVF filling station on Peel Road, Douglas, on August 23 was widely circulated on social media.

Rachel Elizabeth Hall, aged 22, of Samuel Webb Crescent, Douglas, and Lee Paul Dodd, aged 23, of Oak Avenue, Douglas, both admitted affray.

Leah Dale, aged 20, of Woodbourne Road, Douglas, admitted provoking behaviour, possession of cannabis, and possession of class C drug mirtazapine.

The court heard £351 worth of damage was caused to the shop and stock as a result of the fracas.

A Newton Hearing will be held on October 10 for Dodd after he disputed the prosecution facts in the case.

All three will be sentenced on November 13, after the hearing and the preparation of probation reports.

Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the court how, on August 23 at 3am, the trio were in the Peel Road garage when a row started.

Ms Carroon said Hall pushed Dale, who retaliated by pushing Hall. Dodd was then said to have shoved Dale into shelving.

Hall then aimed a kick at Dale’s stomach.

A second man, who is not the subject of court proceedings, was punched in the face by Dodd and thrown around the shop.

Dodd grabbed the man around the throat as the two were on the floor.

Meanwhile, Hall and Dale were on the floor fighting. The court heard Dodd approached and put his foot on Dale’s chest as he pulled Hall away.

Police arrived and Dale was arrested.

Dodd and Hall had left the scene but were found later and also arrested.

Dale was found to be in possession of 1.8 grams of cannabis worth £10.70 and one mirtazapine tablet, a prescription drug used for anxiety.

When interviewed, Dale told police the row had started due to someone taking the mickey out of her and claimed she was defending herself.

Hall entered a basis of plea, via advocate Matthew Wilshaw, saying she was trying to diffuse a row between Dale and a man when Dale had turned her attention to her and Dodd.

Row

Hall said Dale came at her shouting and she had pushed her away.

She accepted aiming a kick at Dale’s stomach but said she thought Dale was trying to get to her as people stood between the pair.

Dodd entered a basis of plea, via advocate Paul Glover, saying she had misinterpreted the second man’s action of trying to pull him away from the row as an attack. He claimed the man had also punched him.

Ms Carroon said the prosecution did not accept the second man offered any violence.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ruled the difference in Hall’s account of events to the prosecution’s version would not make a material difference to sentencing but that Dodd’s difference in his account would require a Newton Hearing.

Mrs Hughes said the probation report should consider all options, including custody.

Bail was granted to all three in the sum of £500.
