A 21-year-old has been fined £520 and had his licence endorsed with eight penalty points for two motoring offences.
Toby Wood, of Edremony Estate, Port Erin, admitted driving with no insurance and a licence offence on November 9.
Prosecuting advocate James Robinson told magistrates that Wood was seen by police at 8.50pm driving a Volkswagen Polo towards Castletown.
He was said to be sitting low in the car and far back so he was followed and stopped.
He was found to have no insurance and held only a provisional licence.
Defence advocate James Peterson said that his client had driven because his partner who was also in the car had been feeling unwell.
’Nevertheless, that isn’t a valid reason to drive,’ said the advocate.
’There was no allegation of poor driving save for the unusual sitting position.’
Magistrates fined Wood £400 for the insurance offence and £120 for the licence offence.
He was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs and will pay all the amounts at a rate of £100 per month.
