Fire crews from Douglas and Peel were called to a house fire at St Johns yesterday afternoon.

At about 4.20pm, fire fighters were to the house at The Hope.

On arrival they found all the occupants were out of the house and when crews entered wearing breathing apparatus, they discovered the fire had been confined to a kitchen appliance which was put out using a high pressure hose-reel.

Crews ventilated the smoke logged property using a positive pressure ventilation fan and remained in attendance for approximately 45 minutes.
