Two cyclists needed hospital treatment following an incident near the Devil’s Elbow on the Peel to Kirk Michael coast road.

Police said the injured were among a group of visiting cyclists taking part in a sponsored charity ride.

A spokesman said the group were overtaken by what’s described as a blue 4x4, possibly a Range Rover.

Police said: 'During this overtake the vehicle has struck one of the cyclists causing them to lose control of their bike and crash.

'This rider has then been hit by another of the group who has then also crashed.

’The driver of the 4x4 has not stopped at the scene following the collision and continued towards Kirk Michael.

'Both riders were taken to Nobles hospital for treatment.’

Peel Police would like to speak with any road users who were travelling on the coast road at the time of the incident at 2.30 pm yesterday. (Friday) and who may have seen the collision or the blue 4x4 vehicle.

It’s also believed that a small white van possibly with the letters MC liveried on it may have passed the cyclists immediately before the collision occurred and police would ask the driver of this vehicle to contact Peel Police on 631554.Police said the riders were part of the Naked Ride for Prostate cancer awareness. The two injured riders were released later yesterday evening having been treated for non-serious injuries. One however has had to seek further treatment today (Saturday) for dizziness and sickness.
