A driver spotted on a busy town centre street had no insurance, tax or licence, a court has heard.
To compound matters, 25-year-old Alexander Robert Kaneen was also an unlicensed driver.
For the prosecution, James Robinson said police recognised Kaneen as an unlicensed driver, following him along Athol Street then stopping him in nearby Barrack Street.
The defendant admitted having no licence, insurance or tax, nor had he updated his car’s ownership details.
The court also noted Kaneen had only paid £20 towards an existing £700 fine and a warrant had been executed for his arrest.
Defending him, Peter Taylor said Kaneen was not aware the fine was not being deducted from his benefits, however, he said he was now working.
He said the defendant’s decision making process had been affected by medication but this was resolved.
He was fined £700 in total with £50 costs and sentenced to 39 days’ imprisonment for non payment of the fine.
