Police and customs officials were doing fuel checks near Dhoon School when they pulled over John Antony Milligan’s Transit van on April 18.
Initially, 37-year-old Milligan, of Springfield Avenue, Pulrose, gave police false details, but later told them he had only a provisional driving licence. In fact the provisional licence had expired the previous week and he had no insurance cover. He admitted having no licence or insurance by post.
The case was adjourned for him to appear in person on July 13. Magistrates’ chairman David Christian said this was necessary because a driving ban was one sentencing option open to the court.
