An untaxed delivery van was due to be tested before the road tax could be renewed, a court has been told.

Patrick David Lewis, of Beech Road, Port St Mary, admitted allowing an employee to use the DAF delivery van without tax. The vehicle was stopped on April 24 on Derby Road in Ramsey. The tax expired in January 2015.

In a statement, 53-year-old Lewis said the incident had been a misunderstanding and the van had been parked up since then. He said he was waiting to get an MOT test done on the van before taxing it again. The court heard a year’s tax cost £309. Lewis was fined £600 with £50 costs.
