A husband and wife accused of evading millions of pounds worth of VAT have appeared in court.
John George Moore, 72, and Patricia Moore, 71, of Meary Voar in Santon, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday via video link from Isle of Man Prison.
They each face a charge of evasion of VAT alleged to have taken place between March and April last year. The couple did not enter a plea.
Advocate Louise Cooil asked the court for the case to be adjourned to a later date as Mr Moore was unable to communicate with a UK barrister as he had lost his voice.
Mrs Moore is also yet to organise legal representation.
Both were remanded in custody for a week and will next appear in court on Tuesday (June 23).
