Video footage of a dramatic tower top rescue by the Coastguard helicopter has been posted on the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s Facebook page.

An elderly man, believed to be a visitor, was airlifted unconscious from the viewing platform at the top of Milner’s Tower on Bradda Head after he was taken ill.

Video footage shows the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon carrying out the dramatic rescue.

A Coastguard spokesman said: ’The call came in around 12.10pm on Friday August 4, requesting UK Coastguard assistance after a man was taken ill at the top of Milner’s Tower, Port Erin.

’Due to his condition he was unable to moved down the stairs and the best course of action was being airlifted from the top of the tower.

’The Caernarfon Coastguard helicopter airlifted the man to Noble’s Hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery.’
