Police have confirmed that an elderly woman has died following a flat fire in Peel - and a man is in a serious condition in hospital.

A joint police and fire investigation was launched following the fire at the flat on Battery Road overnight on Wednesday/Thursday.
This afternoon police issued an update, confirming: ’It is with great sadness the police can confirm that a 91-year-old female has died as a result of this incident.
’Additionally, a male from the same property is in a serious condition at Noble’s Hospital receiving treatment.
Police passed their condolences to the family and requested they are 'afforded privacy at this difficult time'.
They urged the public to refrain from speculating on this incident as the police and fire investigation is still ongoing.
