A Douglas woman will be sentenced in June after admitting assaulting two police officers whilst drunk.
Lorraine Hicklin, aged 56, of Watterson Close, attacked the female constables when they attended reports of a disturbance at her home on February 19.
At a sitting of the Magistrates Court at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday, Hicklin retracted previous not guilty pleas and admitted both offences.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court that Hicklin had called the police at 7.15pm on February 19, claiming her husband had assaulted her.
When the police officers arrived at the property they noted Hicklin was ’clearly drunk’ - she was slurring her words, her eyes were glazed and she smelled of intoxicants.
Hicklin admitted she’d lied about the assault saying she’d actually called police because her husband had refused to make her a cigarette.
In an attempt to diffuse the situation the two officers attempted to find her somewhere else to stay for the night however they were unsuccessful.
Hicklin then became aggressive and lashed out.
She kicked one of the women in the thigh and dug her nails into the skin of the other causing bruising.
Hicklin was arrested and taken to police headquarters in Douglas where she continued to shout and swear, the court heard.
Social enquiry reports have been requested before Hicklin is sentenced on Tuesday, June 12.
An all options report will be considered.
Bail was granted with a number of conditions.
They include that she does not enter licenced premises, consume or buy alcohol, and doesn’t leave the Isle of Man without the permission of the court.
