A woman has been fined after breaching a licensing ban four times.
Tina Cole, aged 57, of Foxdale Road, Ballasalla, admitted the breaches as well as being found drunk in a public place.
She was fined a total of £900 and banned from licensed premises, and purchasing or being sold alcohol for 12 months.
Prosecutor Richard Butters told the court that Cole had ’no regard for the order’ and there had been a ’catalogue of offending’.
The prosecutor told the court that Cole bought three bottles of wine from Tesco on January 24 despite being subject to a ban and was reported by the manager.
She then tried to buy wine at Castlemona Spar on March 20 but was denied the purchase.
Staff reported that Cole had bought wine the previous day before they had realised she was banned.
On April 10 police were called to the House of Manannan in Peel where Cole was found sitting on a bench outside at 3.15pm while drunk.
On April 16 Cole bought wine at the Deli at Tynwald Mills and was reported by staff.
Mr Butters said: ’She is very clearly an alcoholic looking at her previous convictions. She persistantly breaches banning orders.’
Advocate Peter Taylor handed in two references for his client and said: ’In early 2018 Ms Cole’s family life and her life in general got on top of her and she turned to drink.
’She was given a Licensing Act ban and unfortunately, as with most people who turn to drink, the desire to drink is strong.’
Mr Taylor said Cole was employed at the Home of Rest for Old Horses.
He said: ’She is determined to rid herself of this problem. The Drug and Alcohol Team have discharged her from their care as it’s not drinking seven days a week, it’s binge drinking when she’s stressed. She drinks quietly on her own without troubling anyone.’
