A woman has been fined and banned from buying alcohol by magistrates.
Patricia Mary Clague, of Cronk Elfin, in Ramsey, admitted a charge of being drunk and disorderly.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court how, on January 26 at 12.10pm, Clague called an ambulance to her Ramsey address.
Clague, aged 51, was said to be outside, intoxicated and having breathing difficulties but she refused to go to hospital.
She was said be acting belligerently and shouting as she got out of the ambulance.
When police arrived, Clague was said to be swearing within the earshot of children in the area and was subsequently arrested by officers.
Defence advocate Paul Glover said: ’Ms Clague was the one who called the ambulance.
She had a bit of an emotional meltdown.
’She had been going through a rough time which we don’t wish to go into in court.
Panic
’When paramedics arrived her panic got the better of her.’
Mr Glover went on to say that Clague had spent around 24 hours in custody after failing to turn up for court last week and a warrant for her arrest being issued.
’It was due to an emotional situation,’ said the advocate.
’She couldn’t face coming to court.
Ban
’She wasn’t on the run or anything like that.’
Clague was banned from buying alcohol for six months.
She was fined £275, which she will pay at a rate of £10 per week deducted from her benefits.
Clague was also ordered by magistrates to pay £125 prosecution costs, which she will pay at the same rate.
