A woman has appeared in court charged with a burglary, during which between £5,000 and £10,000 was allegedly stolen.

Tara Lee Ashlyn Cowell, of Woodville Terrace, in Douglas, is accused of committing the crime at a cafe in Lord Street, Douglas, on Mad Sunday (June 3) with an as yet unidentified man.

She is also accused of taking a wallet containing a bank card and a packet of cigarettes.

The 31-year-old appeared before magistrates court last week.

The case was adjourned until June 21.

Bail was granted with conditions that Ms Cowell reside at her home address, abide by a curfew between 10pm and 7am, report to a police station once a week, and not leave the island without court permission.
