Sophia Miriam Daisy Russell, 24, of Royal Court, Onchan has pleaded guilty to possession of the Class A drug cocaine, assaulting a police officer and failure to provide details of a driver involved in a crash.

She appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Friday. The court heard that officers attended her address on January 29 after concern was raised over the safety of the occupants.

Prosecutor Chrissie Hunt said that when officers entered the flat, they found Russell in the bedroom with drug paraphernalia and arrested her. During a search at police headquarters, a wrap was discovered which Russell was stopped by officers from ingesting.

The wrap was tested and found to be 2.2g of cocaine which has a street value of £220 and for personal use.

While in custody, Russell was said to be agitated and argumentative and struck a male officer in the chest while being taken into her cell.

On February 13, a silver Ford Fusion was involved in a collision that was not reported. When police visited Russell on a separate issue, they discovered the car was parked nearby and when asked to identify the driver by officers, she refused to do so.

Russell was bailed to her home address and will be sentenced for these offences by the Court of General Gaol Delivery on June 15 when she is due to be sentenced for other drug related charges.
