A woman who is waiting to be allocated a disabled parking badge ended up in court last week - after using a disabled space without one.
Rachel Helen Morris, aged 39, of Court Row, Ramsey, admitted a charge of failing to display a disabled persons’ badge when she appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Wednesday.
The prosecution was brought by Ramsey Commissioners.
Jane Gray, prosecuting, said a town warden saw a car parked in a disabled space in Station Road car park, on July 26.
When she returned to it, Morris protested that she could hardly walk.
A passer-by overheard her tell the warden: ’One of these days, somebody is going to sort you out.’
Duty advocate David Reynolds said Morris suffered from a spinal degenerative disease. She had applied for a disabled parking permit, but was still awaiting it.
There was no suggestion she would not be issued one, but there had been a delay.
The defendant was in ’constant pain’, he said.
Morris was fined £150 and ordered to pay £125 costs.
