A 45-year-old woman has been fined £300 for kicking in a door and possessing cannabis.

Dawn Diane Neeson was also ordered to pay £279.48 compensation for damage to the door.

She pleaded guilty to offences of criminal damage and cannabis possession.

Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that police were called to a property in North Shore Road in Ramsey on November 15.

A door which required a key card for access had been forced open and when police viewed CCTV footage it showed Neeson kicking the door to get it open.

On December 20 police went to a flat in Waterloo Road and Neeson was found with 0.5 grams of cannabis, valued by police at £15.

Defence advocate Winston Taylor said that Neeson, who lives in Waterloo Road, Ramsey, had been out drinking with friends on the night she damaged the door and that she had little recollection of the latter part of the evening.

Mr Taylor said that there had been a delay in the matter coming to court due to lockdown and that Neeson used cannabis for a long-term spinal condition which caused her pain.

’Ms Neeson was taken off her medication at the time and resorted to using cannabis,’ said the advocate.

The court heard that she was jailed in 2016 for possessing drugs with intent to supply and received a caution earlier this year for cannabis possession.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes fined Neeson £150 for each offence and also ordered her to pay £100 prosecution costs.

She will pay the fine, compensation and costs at a rate of £10 per week deducted from benefits.
