A woman has been fined £500 after slapping a bouncer at the Courthouse bar.
Natalie Jane Hays Miller, aged 29, of Ballafurt Road, Port Erin, pleaded guilty to common assault and was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to her victim.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court that Miller was being escorted out of the Douglas bar by three members of staff on August 25 at 1.45am.
Police were on patrol nearby and Miller was seen by officers swinging her arm at one of the bouncers, striking him in the face with an open palm.
She was initially arrested for disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.
But that charge was changed to common assault as the offence took place outside the curtilage of the licensed area.
Miller told police during interview that she had taken cocaine on the night but said she had a good recollection of events.
Celebration
She said she did not know why she had been asked to leave the bar and felt that she had been manhandled by staff.
Miller was said to work in a cafe but be working towards becoming a designated official.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said: ’It was a single slap.
’Ms Miller had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday and went on the train from Port Erin to Douglas.
’She didn’t understand why she was being asked to leave the Courthouse.
’She felt there was some manhandling of her during which she fell onto the floor.’
He added: ’She accepts when confronted with three male security staff she has slapped one.’
Magistrates gave Miller six months to pay the fine, compensation and costs.
