A yob who threw his girlfriend to the ground, where she landed in the road between two parked cars, has been banished from the island.
Eddie Falcon, who was then living in Douglas, committed the offence during a row as the pair left his address on Tynwald Street on November 14.
Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court the couple were arguing in the street and Falcon grabbed the woman and picked her up.
She escaped and ran, before being grabbed by Falcon again who picked her up then pushed her into the road where she fell between the parked cars.
The incident, which took place opposite a primary school, prompted a witness to call 999.
The woman complained that she had been assaulted but later retracted the allegation.
When interviewed, Falcon, who is 20, said he was ashamed of his actions and the couple had since reconciled their relationship.
Defence advocate, Winston Taylor, said his client had led ’somewhat of a troubled life’ and had left home at 16 after falling out with his step-father.
Mr Taylor said Falcon had been hoping to start a new life in the Isle of Man and had been trying to calm his partner down when he had picked her up.
He added that his client suffered from ADHD and had mental health difficulties.
Falcon was sentenced to 14 weeks’ jail by Deputy High Bailiff, Jayne Hughes, and he was also banned from the island for five years, as he was said to have only arrived in the island shortly before the incident.
Falcon has already served the equivalent of 10 weeks’ custody while on remand.
The court heard Falcon has previous convictions in the UK for battery in 2015, common assault in 2013, and burglary and theft earlier this year.
