Six-year-old Taylor Kneen (pictured) was described as an ’absolute super-star’ after calling 999 when his mum got stuck behind the bathroom door at their home in Port Erin in February this year.
Little Taylor explained that the bathroom door lock had broken and that his mum could not get out of the room.
His three-year-old brother was in the bathroom with his mum, and his baby brother was in the cot. The 14-month-old baby could be heard crying on the call.
Taylor had initially tried to get help from their neighbour, but he could not get through their front gate.
He was exceptionally calm on the phone call and did all that was asked including passing updates to his mummy, unlocking and opening the front door for the arrival of a police officer, consoling his crying baby brother in the cot - and excitedly explaining that he was going to the toy shop later with his dad to buy a toy car with the £2 he had!
Taylor remained on the telephone with the emergency services joint control room for 11 minutes while they got help.
The Chief Constable said in his citation: ’Taylor was an absolute super-star!
’He was superbly calm, and never faltered when questioned by the controller. He made his mum and dad very proud with his actions. Most children of his age would not have been able to perform this task to the degree he did. Taylor is a very brave boy, and his actions are certainly worthy of mention, if not commendation.’
