The Joint Services Social Club (JSSC) is a new social club for veterans of the armed forces.
Steve Christie, who served for 20 years in the Royal Artillery, has wanted to create the club for a few years.
After speaking with some veterans, now was the right time to create the JSSC.
The JSSC brings together all Services (Navy, Army, RAF) under one umbrella. Veterans can enjoy the sort of camaraderie they will have had from the NAAFI, Regimental Clubs and respective messes.
Linda Coe and staff from the Manx Legion say they have been amazing in their support and allowing the Manx Legion to be used as the JSSC base.
The club has already held a couple of successful events, with two more this year, notably a black tie dinner, which will be held in December.
Events for next year will include a games night, interactive horse racing, a summer ball and Oktoberfest. A full list of events and how to join can be found on jssc.im.
Organisers say there are lots of charities and associations on-island that do some great work for veterans’ welfare. The JSSC says it wants to complement these by offering social events for veterans.
The JSSC thanked B&B Furniture (£1,500 donation), Celton Manx (£700 donation), Robinsons (food donation for events), Heineken (refreshments) and Opti-Fi (whiich built and host website) for their support.
The organisation is hoping for more support. Contacts:
