Ramsey’s charity RNLI shop has been officially reopened after an extensive refurbishment.

Andy Cowie, chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners, ably assisted by Stormy Stan, the RNLI’s mascot, cut the blue and orange ribbon with a giant pair of scissors.

Also there were Ramsey coxswain, Mark Kenyon, and some of the Ramsey lifeboat crew volunteers, who had taken a well-earned break from the station’s charity car wash being held just around the corner.

Shop manager Bernie Bevan said he was delighted with the newly-refitted shop.

’We are so pleased with the refit. The new shop fittings allow the merchandise to be displayed in a more attractive way and give customers a better shopping experience.

’We’ve got a fantastic team in place and we are really looking forward to welcoming people into the shop and showing them all the lovely items that we have for sale.’

Mr Bevan is helped out by a team of 24 volunteers who give their time freely to help the RNLI charity raise vital funds.

Refreshments were on hand to welcome guests and visitors.

Meanwhile back at Ramsey RNLI lifeboat station, a busy lifeboat crew raised more than £300 for the RNLI’s annual Mayday appeal with their charity car wash.

The shop, on Market Hill, Ramsey, is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, closing at 3pm on Wednesdays. Items for sale include the RNLI children’s yellow wellies, Ramsey RNLI lifeboat mugs, clothing, toys, confectionery, greetings cards and souvenirs.
