Acclaimed artist Graham Rider has given a painting to Tynwald.

He is pictured presenting the ’La Salute’ painting of the landmark Venetian basilica Santa Maria della Salute to President of Tynwald Steve Rodan and Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson.

Mr Rider said: ’I consider this work one of my finest paintings and was keen for it to be seen in public. When I learned local artists were being invited to exhibit in the Legislative Buildings then saw the well-lit space proposed to hang the painting, I knew it would have a good home.’

Mr Rider moved to the island in 2016 from Norwich. He is artist in residence at Grenaby Studios and has exhibited in London.

Mr Watterson said the painting outside the Barrool Suite ’is displayed to truly striking effect for all to admire.’
