Four acoustic singer songwriters and performers played and sang at a warm-up gig for a folk festival, due to take place in Ramsey next month.

Singers Rhiannon Jade, Adam Melvin, Matt Kelly and folk guitarist Mark Lawrence all performed at the Mitre Hotel on Friday night as a precursor to the forthcoming Shennaghys Jiu traditional folk festival, which kicks off on Friday, April 5.

The festival features three days of concerts, workshops, outdoor performances and family ceilis, which take place in venues around Ramsey, along with a Celtic music showcase concert at the Peel Centenary Centre on Sunday, April 6, from 3pm.

The festival will hear from the Scots group the Canny Band, the Cornish dance group Splann, Irish concertina player Greta Curtin, the pan-Celtic group Imbolc and BBC 2 young folk musician of the year Mera Royle.
