Talented Manx arts students are being encouraged to apply for a helping hand to aid them in their further studies.
Arts Aid, a charity offering scholarships to Isle of Man residents and Manx students studying the arts, is inviting applications for its 2022 awards
Now in its fifth year of awards, Arts Aid is offering scholarships and financial help to an increasing number of talented young people, enabling them to attend further courses and studies, from BTEC to master’s degree -level in the UK.
Last year, nine students received help in their studies, including international award-winning pianist Annabel King, who is completing her A-Levels at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, Alexandra Slater, Christian Cooper and Amy Convery, who are studying musical theatre at prestigious
drama schools, dance students Joshua Morrison and Alicia Schofield, and Gracel Del Santos, who is studying a foundation course in music and dramatic art.
’Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, students’ studies have been badly disrupted, yet they continue to show remarkable resilience,’ said David Wertheim, Chairman of Arts Aid
’We are very proud of the way our Arts Aid scholarship recipients have handled the situation, especially those in the performing arts for whom this time has been particularly challenging.
’With high levels of vaccination and a reducing severity of infections, indications are that things are improving.
’We will continue to offer as much assistance as possible to our scholars.’
