An airline is looking for an original piece of music, written and inspired by the regions it serves, to provide the soundtrack to its anniversary celebrations.

Regional airline Loganair, which serves Ronaldsway, is preparing to celebrate 60 years in operation and is looking to find an original piece of music to help mark the occasion.

Any artist, from amateur and budding songwriters through to and established, professional artists to record and enter a lyrical or instrumental song which would ideally encapsulate the ethos of the airline.

One entry will be selected to feature in an anniversary video in addition to winning a £1,000 cash prize.

Loganair’s first flight took place in 1963, taking off from Dundee Airport.

It now flies to the Highlands and islands around the north as well as serving multiple international destinations including Denmark and Norway.

The Scottish based airline began flying from the Isle of Man in 2018, following the collapse of Flybe and has recently restarted flights from Ronaldsway, following the relaxation of Covid travel restrictions.

The airline is looking for a song from a local artist or a group who live within the routes of its UK network that puts the customer and the airline’s ideals at the heart of its 60-year history.

’Celebrating 60 years is a truly remarkable milestone and it’s humbling to reflect on our history as we continue to invest and look ahead to the next 60 years,’ said Kay Ryan, Loganair’s chief commercial officer.

’We are in the business of connecting people so it’s fitting to call upon our network to create a sound track for our celebratory video.

’We can’t wait to listen to the talented submissions over the coming weeks.’

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, January 19, with the a professionally-produced video being made in time for release at the start of February.
