Fifteen-year-old Alexandra Slater become Hospice Isle of Man’s first Young Ambassador.
Hospice chief executive Anne Mills said Alexandra was the perfect fit for the Young Ambassador role.
She explained: ’Alexandra recently performed in our chapel for the Hospice staff and patients, and I have to say that her voice was just outstanding.
’She presented herself really well and the audience were completely taken by her talent and warm character.’
Hospice is proud to have a number of mature and well experienced ambassadors who already do so much for them and the charity has been considering the Young Ambassador role for some time.
Alexandra said that when she was approached to be the very first Young Ambassador, she couldn’t have been more excited.
She said: ’It really is a privilege to become the first Young Ambassador for Hospice Isle of Man.
’I feel like this role fits really well with me as Hospice is a centre of excellence and I have an ambition to be excellent in everything I do.’
Alexandra will be actively supporting hospice through her ambassadorial position to help develop relationships with the island’s young people, promoting awareness and encouraging peers to become more engaged with the charity.
Hospice Isle of Man is celebrating its 35th anniversary next year, and Alexandra already has plans to perform a variety of numbers at its celebratory concert.
The charity said that broadening its network of supporters and reaching out to the young people of the island will have a ’phenomenal’ impact on the services it provides.
