The organiser of a charity concert is promising to pull out some big showstoppers when she opens her show this weekend.
Alexandra Slater is returning to the Gaiety Theatre with her second Greatest Variety Show concert.
The all-round singer, dancer and actor is hosting the gala concert in aid of Hospice Isle of Man on Saturday, September 21, from 7.30pm.
The evening will be hosted by James Davies, and will feature music from famous musicals, such as Moulin Rouge, along with a set of songs by Queen and Freddie Mercury.
Among the singers and dancers taking part in the charity evening will be a host of musical stars and familiar faces from the island’s stages, such as island favourites David Artus, Danni Bridson, Sonia Callin, Joey Wylde and Michael Bonner, along with popular singers Paul Costain, Sue Tummon, Olivia Black, Graham Crowe and Jane Mayne.
There will also be performances from the Ballakermeen High School choir and Manx Voices, alongside music from singer and song writer Matt Creer.
Dancers from the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance and the acrobatic dance troupe Asteria will perform spectacular routines, alongside many more familiar and talented acts.
This is the second concert organised by Alexandra.
She was made a young ambassador for Hospice Isle of Man during 2018, and has been involved in several fundraising events, along with working to raise the profile of the charity.
She first became aware of the work undertaken by the charity after Hospice Isle of Man cared for her terminally-ill grandfather.
She held her first variety concert for the charity last year, raising more than £8,500, and she aims to recreate the event this weekend.
’I think that Hospice Isle of Man, and all the staff there, are amazing,’ said Alexandra.
’When my grandfather was ill a few years ago, they helped my family so much through the hardest time and I wanted to give something back to them.
’I’m so thrilled that so many talented friends and performers have agreed to take part to raise money for such a good cause.
’We’ve got a fun-filled evening planned and there really will be something for everyone, including a rousing climax which will hopefully blow your socks off.’
Tickets are priced between £18 to £20 for adults, with £15 to £18 concessions, available from the Welcome Centre and the Villa Gaiety box office, on 600555, and online from villagaiety.com
