Amended plans for a major development at Great Meadow Castletown have deleted the reference to ’approximately 130’ homes.

The original bid (18/01172/A) by Great Meadow Estates Ltd was for approval in principle for a residential development comprising approximately 130 dwellings, sheltered housing, care home, community centre, parking, open space and access on the land off Malew Road.

The plan has provoked several comments including development should be within - not outside - the town and it is on greenfield land.

Southern 100 race bossessaid another access road should be included as, for eight days of the year, residents will be unable to get in or out when roads close for racing.

Comments on the plan must be made by December 21.
