The fight to change the island’s abortion laws might seem an unlikely inspiration for Christmas decorations.

But it stimulated on artist’s creativity.

Eloise White, from Peel, is studying an MA in animation at Staffordshire University and has launched a set of tree novelties based on the outfits worn by pro-choice campaigners Handmaids Isle of Man.

The red and white costumes are based on the TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel the Handmaid’s Tale.

They made their first appearance during a silent protest on Tynwald Day 2017 and appeared on the front page of the Manx Independent.

Elöise says she was inspired by the campaigners who have fought change the law.

’It’s a vitally important issue which affects all women, and I’m glad to be able to show my support for the campaign.

’I’m proud to stand with Handmaids Isle of Man and the Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation.’

A spokeswoman for Handmaids Isle of Man says they’re delighted with the handmade decorations.

’We’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the effect our protests have had during this debate, and we’re delighted with Eloise’s decorations.’

Eloise’s creations are currently available to buy online via her Etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/AHappyMediumDesign

A portion of all profits will go to the Abortion Support Network, which provides advice to women in the Isle of Man.
