Dr Keith Wilkinson has along with his wife Kerry raised £1,036 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and released a charity album, ’Changing Moods’.
Dr Wilkinson recently published his second book, ’If in Doubt’ documenting his experiences from 30 years working as the anaesthetist at Noble’s Hospital, and all proceeds from sales went to the NSPCC.
And his wife Kerry, an instructor at DL Fitness, raised £491 from a coffee morning and raffle.
Janette Drew from the NSPCC thanked them for the ’incredible total’, noting that every £4 raised represents one Childline call the charity can answer.
And the money from the CD sales, which include Dr Wilkinson’s classical guitar covers of popular songs, is going towards Breast Cancer Now - because his youngest daughter, who took the cover photograph, had breast cancer four years ago and underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and mastectomies.
There are Beatles and James Taylor covers, alongside those by less well-known guitarists, all of which he hopes make for easy listening on the professionally-recorded album.
The CDs are on sale for £5 in the hospital dining room, The Bridge Bookshops in Ramsey and Port Erin and the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal.
If in Doubt is also still available for £9 on Amazon, the Mostly Manx shop in Douglas and the Bridge Bookshops.
