A planning application (18/00528/B) for 12 new homes at Caines Yard, Templar Terrace in Ramsey has been rejected by planners.
The application, submitted by Wardsley Ltd, would have seen six two-storey homes and six three-story homes built complete with parking, gardens and a communal refuse store.
However, the plans were rejected with planners criticising the impact six of the proposed houses would have on the surrounding area.
The refusal notice stated: ’By virtue of the siting, scale, massing, bulk and design of the proposed dwellings on plots 7 to 12, the proposed housing development will have a significant harmful impact on the character of the surrounding area.
’The layout and overall density, coupled with the lack of open space will create a cramped form of development that would unacceptably harm the character of its surroundings.’
It also stated that the proposed height of the houses would ’result in an unacceptable level of overlooking’ which would have a ’significant adverse impact’ on the living conditions of neighbouring properties at Templar Terrace on Gibson Street.
Planners also said that the applicant ’has not provided sufficient ecological information’ to satisfy that the plans wouldn’t have an adverse affect on ’protected species’ or their habitat.
