It looks like the long-awaited project to re-open the flumes and the new leisure pool at the National Sports Centre may finally be nearing an end date.

Some children have been invited this weekend to preview the new section before it’s officially re-opened to the public.

Members of the ’Swim School’ have been sent an invitation to attend a session on Saturday or Sunday.

They’ve been told a photographer, and videographer, will be at the events with the photos being used for ’advertising purposes’.

The £4.2 million refurbishment project has been hit with a number of delays since work to replace the flumes at the Douglas sports centre started in 2017.

The delays to the project have now stretched beyond that of the Douglas Promenade works, which first began in September 2018, when Tynwald members approved it.

The sign-off process was due to be completed last month, on Thursday, October 28, but the pool and flumes are yet to be officially re-opened.
