The annual Isle of Man Art Society Easter exhibition has been officially opened by Tynwald President Steve Rodan.

The event, held in the Village Walk shopping centre, Onchan, exhibits the variety of styles that the island’s artistic talent have to offer, displaying work by established local artists such as David Byrne and Nancy Corkish.

The exhibition also provides an opportunity to those who are only just beginning to exhibit their work.

The event is supported by accounting firm Moore Stephens.

Andrew Dixon, a partner of the business, said: ’We’re delighted to support the Isle of Man Art Society’s Easter Exhibition again this year.

’The Isle of Man has an amazing number of talented artists and this exhibition is a great opportunity for us to enjoy art that has never been on public display before.’

The art on display this year take influence from around the world, especially the island’s landscapes and buildings, the TT, Manx carved crosses and even an old padlock, meaning there is surely something for everyone to admire and enjoy.

Mr Rodan added his support to the exhibition saying: ’The island’s beauty is a source of inspiration for much of this art, and the high standards which have been reached again this year makes a visit a must.

’I’m pleased to give this event my full support, and it was a pleasure as President of Tynwald to be asked to open it.’

The exhibition will be on display until Monday, April 2, and is open from 10am till 5pm.
