Art students have been displaying the fruits of their creativity at an end-of-year exhibition.
The students from the art, design, media and music course at the University College Isle of Man put their final pieces of work on display, showcasing the wide range of genres and styles and displaying the students’ final projects, along with examples of their research and developmental process.
Students were also selected for individual awards, including the Fayle KPMG awards for Innovation and Skill, which went to design students Lydia Gray and Lydia Glover.
Awards for dedication went to Euan Mort and progress to Keiran Brennan.
Much of the work has been carried out of the college, due to the recent lockdown periods and Jo Pretty, principal of UCM, who opened the exhibition, paid tribute to the hard work and focus shown by the students in the face of such disruption.
’We really missed not having an end of year exhibition last year because of Covid-19,’ she said during her opening speech.
’It is the highlight of the year for staff and students, and a real celebration of all that has been achieved.
’Our creative further education students have worked incredibly hard, producing impressive portfolios which demonstrate their progress and development over the course of their studies.’
Further awards were handed out to students studying the degree course, including The Norman Sayle award for first year overall body of work, which went to Isabel Crichton, with Clare Pettit winning the prize for Manx-inspired art work.
The Norman Sayle award for innovative work went to Ashley Christian.
