Teachers and pupils at Ashley Hill primary school in Onchan are loving the new addition to the school as it shows off its Hospice wallaby.
The school has the wallaby as part of Hospice Isle of Man’s ’Wallabies Gone Wild’ fundraising initiative where models of the marsupials will be decorated and displayed around the island later in the year.
As part of the education programme, schools were given the chance to have their own wallaby to design, match with a sponsor, and take part in the wallaby trail which takes place in the summer.
Following the completion of the trail, schools will be able to have their wallaby returned to keep.
Head teacher Peter Lewis said: ’Ashley Hill is having lots of fun with a range of creative ideas to raise money for their wallaby in aid of Hospice.
’The children have been taking their own selfies, sporting a range of outfits and accessories, in our exciting wallaby den.
’The children have each designed their own wallaby thinking about why Ashley Hill is special to them.
’We can’t wait for all the amazing fundraising to follow.’
