The Voice UK is scouting for artists to appear in the 2022 show in a online open mic night being held this evening (Thursday) at 7pm.

Producers from the ITV show will be watching the Zoom session which is being hosted by local musician Kizzie Puzzar.

She says that people can still sign up for the event until later today.

Kizzie is a singer with the band Spaghetti and the Hoops, has played at SoundCheck, and last lockdown set up the popular ’Gigs from the Bedroom’ Facebook group.

Solo artists, duos and trios are being invited and asked to prepare one song with a backing track/instrument (with backing tracks to be played from electronic device/speaker).

All music styles are welcome.

Candidates will be let into the Zoom meeting one at a time before having a chat with the producers so that they can find out a bit more about them before their performance.

Successful candidates will be contacted before July by the Voice UK, and will go on to be entered into a second round of selection before going on to appear on the television show next year.

Kizzie said that the Voice had held auditions in the island in previous years, but it has been ’extremely low key’ and not advertised like it has been this year.

She added: ’I’ve helped with auditions before and there’s only been a few people, but this time we’ve had a lot more interest’.

All under-18s must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, and applicants must be 16 years of age on/before October 1.
