Browne Craine & Co Accountants is sponsoring the award for Company of the Year at this year’s Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards for Excellence.
Third time Awards for Excellence sponsors Browne Craine are celebrating a milestone year as the company turns the grand old age of 65.
Founded by Ron Browne back in 1954, Browne Craine has grown from a one-man band to a team of almost 40 members of staff.
The firm is headed up by directors David Craine, Craig Mitchell, James Sayle, Lynsey Smith and Basil Bielich, who together have a wealth of experience in providing accountancy, taxation, liquidation and audit services to their clients.
The directors alone have a combined total of more than 100 years’ service with the firm. Continuity of service is something Browne Craine prides itself on and having familiar leadership promotes a strong message across to its staff and clients alike.
David Craine said: ’It’s that familiar face that gives people the peace of mind that their affairs will be dealt with in a confidential and professional manner year after year which is something we strive towards.
’We pride ourselves that the directors have such a long standing service to the firm and that we also have a high rate of staff retention: it’s one of the most important things you need when you are running a business.’
Browne Craine enjoys being part of the local community and one of the main initiatives they have been focusing on recently is their small business accountancy clinic.
Its aim is to support local budding entrepreneurs with their accounting and business needs.
The idea is to offer those entrepreneurs guidance to streamline certain aspects of their business so they can concentrate on what really makes their venture successful.
Over the last few years, Browne Craine has welcomed many new companies through its door.
The firm’s supportive culture means staff are also very keen to get involved in helping the local community where they can and have raised money for charity by taking part in various activities.
They include half and full marathons, climbing world-famous landmarks and other sporting activities. The company also enjoys supporting other local initiatives which include sponsoring netball premier league team, the Browne Craine Toomraiders, the Isle of Man Bowls Association Championships and the Children’s Centre’s off-road triathlon Granite Mann Challenge, as well as supporting other local events.
This year Browne Craine is proud to be sponsoring the Company of the Year award.
David said: ’It seems fitting that we are sponsoring the Company of the Year award, particularly given that this year is a special year for us.
’We’d like to wish all the companies who enter the award the best of luck and we’re looking forward to hearing who the finalists are.’
