Rock, punk and heavy metal bands took part in an annual full day of music which raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

The Manx Charity Aid concert took place at the Manor Hotel, Willaston, on Sunday and featured 12 hours of live music, from midday until midnight.

Indie rockers Sunset Jet got the day under way in fine style, before giving way to groups and solo artists from the bands from the Soundcheck youth music project.

Acoustic performers Aaron Harwood, Callum Brew, Steve Nash, Jay O’Connell and Heikke and Marcella played during the afternoon, before the groups Night Time Tennis, Spaghetti and the Hoops, A Clown Calls For War and Bruises took to the stage.

The Iron Maiden tribute band, Island Maiden brought the evening to a thunderous close.

More than £500 was raised during the event, with donation buckets yet to be collected, with the money being split between Soundcheck and the mental health charity REACH IoM.

The Manx Charity Aid Day concert usually takes place on the Bushy’s beet tent stage and has become thought of as the start to the TT fortnight over recent years.

However, with the lack of a TT fortnight this year, Janet Maynard, the landlady of the Manor Hotel offered her pub as an alternative.

The organisers, Sandra Herbert, Ian Bradley and Jenni Smith, gave their thanks to all who helped the get the day under way and promised to be back as usual next year.
