The island’s first festival dedicated entirely to gin is to take place later this month.

Following a ’gin social’ event last year, a number of companies have now launched ’IoM Gin Fest’.

Jamie Lewis, founder of bar tending company and events organisers Lewislewis, said: ’This is a really exciting time for the Isle of Man.

’In less than a year the alcohol trade here in the island has been completely transformed.’

The event is being staged at Laxey Pavilion over Easter weekend from March 29 to 31.

The first night, Thursday, March 29, is the launch party titled ’Swing when your ginning’ from 7pm to midnight including a three-course ’Persian inspiring sharing feast’.

There will be music from swing band Lava.

The £60 ticket includes two drinks and a glass to take home.

The Friday and Saturday will run from 2pm until midnight with tickets at £30, although this does again include two drinks and a glass.

The Alpine Cafe will also be selling food on both days.

Friday and Saturday will feature a selection of music from Kate Clague, Chris Gray, Lee Brooks, Voodoo Bandits, Mae Challis, Biskee Brisht, DJ Tom Crawley, Foxtrap and UNDRGRND.

Five pounds from all ticket sales is being donated to The Children’s Centre.

The Roots Beverage Company, Gef the Mongoose, Lewislewis, Seven Kingdom Distillery, the Fynoderee Distillery and Foraging Vintners winery are involved.
