Beach Buddies is concentrating its efforts on Douglas Bay for the first time for a Sunday morning team gathering and asking for new volunteers to get involved.
It starts at 10.30am at the slipway opposite Villa Marina.
’We have visited the beach and seen the results of the sheer power of the storm, and there are huge amounts of rubbish and plastic to remove,’ said FIM Capital Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale.
’If there are people out there who have never been beach cleaning before, then this is a great opportunity to take part for an hour and help us make a real difference. We genuinely need a large number of people to sort out the serious devastation on Douglas promenade.’
Meanwhile tomorrow (Saturday), FIM Capital Beach Buddies will also be in action on another east coast venue, this time tackling Ramsey Bay.
Events will be running from two different points - the RNLI slipway on the South Promenade and the slipway opposite Ramsey Rugby Club on the North Promenade. Each event starts at 10.30am.
Beach Buddies will potentially break record volunteer numbers with this event.
Beach Buddies was founded in 2006 by Bill Dale and is run by a team of volunteers who aim to give the Isle of Man the cleanest beaches in Europe and to spread the message around the world.
