Beach Buddies has called off its volunteer beach cleaning activities for the second weekend in a row, because of he forecast for severe storms.

Storm Dennis is to blame this time, with wind speeds forecast to be around 70mph on Sunday, the usual day for volunteer events run throughout the year by Beach Buddies.

’We have to be sensible about this,’ said Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale. ’It’s not just the high wind speeds, but we have to think about the travelling miles by volunteers in such poor conditions. So the rubbish will have to wait another week to be collected.’

However, the four half term events planned for next week are still going ahead at the moment, with events planned all across the island between Tuesday and Friday. Each event will last around an hour. Children, parents and dogs are all welcome!
