A poor weather forecast has forced beach buddies to alter their plans for this weekend.

With the forecast for Sunday looking poor, the charity have decided to focus on one event instead, taking place this Saturday at Smeale starting at 10.30am.

Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale said they have: ’Surveyed the area this week, and the beaches all along the northwestern coast north of Jurby are, basically, in a mess.

’So we will concentrate of these beaches and this beautiful stretch of coastline for a number of weeks from now on’.

He states however, they are not ignoring the south of the island and plan to prioritise that area next weekend.

And he says: ’We will also go south during the coming week to sort out the worst of the rubbish on the worst beaches’.

Mr Dale said the basic informal rules apply: ’Everyone is welcome, especially families, plus well-behaved dogs.

’Beach Buddies supplies all the kit, Beach Buddies removes all the materials collected, recycling items such as glass bottles, tin cans, plastic bottles and metal.

’Please bring your own gloves if you prefer - and wear appropriate clothing for the weather.’

Those wishing to take part this weekend are invited to meet at Smeale (south) car park and as always, the big red Beach Buddies’ truck will be there.

Smeale is off the A10 in Andreas, for further information, or help in locating Smeale, please search Beach Buddies Isle of Man on Facebook or ring 496560.
