Loagthan Beaver Scouts have chosen to donate goods to a food bank to earn a community badge.
The Scouts, who are part of the First Douglas Scouts group, are working towards their World Challenge Award which requires the children to support an organisation that helps the community.
Scout leader Annabell Storm said: ’We chose the Isle of Man Foodbank as it’s a charity the Beavers could understand and would be excited to help.
’Jane Foxon from the Foodbank attended the Beavers session last Thursday to receive the donations and to talk to the Beavers about the good work they do.
’We collected enough donations to fill the boot of Jane’s car.’ Annabell explained.

’Along with food staples, we collected toiletries and chocolate to spread some festive cheer. It’s great for young ones to know that it exists and how they can help.’ Previously, the Loagthan Beavers took part in Scottish dancing, cheese rolling from Wales and other good deeds to gain sponsorship towards toilettwinning.
To receive a World Challenge Award, Scouts must identify an issue that affects the community and work with someone who focuses on solving the problem. Scouts will then need to complete a range of activities and give a reflection on how their contribution has not only benefited the community but helped them grow as individuals.
