The Steam Packet has delayed the Ben-my-Chree's morning sailing.

The company has promised an update at 10.30am after their divers have had a chance to examine the vessel.

Last night at about 6.15pm the ferry hit the King Edward Pier as it tried to dock in Douglas.

The stronger-than-forecast winds blew the Ben-my-Chree into the pier, damaging the pier itself and the vessel.

Overnight engineers worked through the night to assess any damage and a diving inspection is currently being carried out.
